What is the Poz Power Coalition?

Purpose Statement

The Poz Power Coalition is a grass roots movement seeking to find and implement ways to eliminate the stigma of HIV so that both HIV + and HIV - individuals may live healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Poz Power Coalition is to empower  HIV+ individuals to identify and help solve problems in the areas of total well being (physical and mental) which we believe can be achieved  by combating stigma, increasing education and communication, as well as working to build affirmative relationships. 

We believe denial, shame and stigma continues to help fuel new HIV infections and bring social challenges to people living with HIV. We believe by tackling the challenges faced by HIV + individuals, their lives will be made more fulfilling. In addition, not only would their lives be made more whole, but the openness brought by this will make HIV less of a taboo subject in the larger Community. We believe this open communication will extend to disclosure between partners, potentially reducing new infections. Creating a community dialogue that will increase education of available treatments for those living with the disease, thus reducing opportunistic infections from a lack of knowledge on treatment options.

Join us to learn how we all can live a life without any shame, guilt or fear associated with being positive or discussing HIV.

Everyone HIV positive and negative is welcome to take part in this movement!

The Poz Power Coalition is a grass roots movement that meets at The Wall Las Memorias and is seeking to  implement ways to eliminate HIV stigma specifically so that both HIV + and HIV - individuals may live healthier and more fulfilling lives.

The Wall - Las Memorias Project is dedicated to promoting wellness and preventing illness among Latino populations affected by HIV/AIDS by using the inspiration of The AIDS Monument as a catalyst for social change.
